There are two issues this switch has that we want you to be aware of before purchasing and because of these issues, these switches will be placed in the Select Switch Sale:

  1. There is a slight inconsistency with switch lubing, where they applied too much lubricant in the pole hole. This can be remedied by scooping the lube out with a foam Q-tip. All orders from now on will include some. Even spreading the lubricant around the pole remedies this issue.
  2. Although this doesn’t affect the actual use of the switch itself, there have been some complaints that the oil seems to be seperating from the grease itself. This causes oil to coat some switches; you may notice oil on your plate when removing switches and the inside of your bag may become oily.

When choosing a mechanical keyboard switch, there are many factors to consider. Each category can significantly impact the overall feel and experience of typing on your keyboard. Let's take a closer look at some of the most important categories to consider:

  1. Material: The type of material used for the switch can significantly affect each keystroke's tactile feedback and sound. Some popular materials include Nylon, PC, and POM. However, there is no one "best" material for a switch, as the best material for you will depend on your personal preferences.
  2. Actuation force: The force required to press down a key is the actuation force. This can range from very light to heavy, significantly affecting typing speed and comfort. Again, there is no one "best" actuation force, as the best actuation force for you will depend on your personal preferences.
  3. Travel distance: Some people prefer the feeling and shortened travel of a long pole switch, while others prefer the longer travel of a standard switch. Once you try a few, you will find what is best for you. The best travel distance is known as "preference."
  4. Sound: Some people love the satisfying "click," while others prefer a quieter typing experience. The type of switch you choose can significantly impact the sound of each keystroke. Is thock the best, the clack, the click, or a poppy sound? The best really is up to your preference.

While each of these categories is important to consider, the truth is that there is no "best" option. The ultimate choice comes down to preference. That is why trying different switches and seeing what feels best for you is important.

Introducing the Preference switch by KNC Keys in partnership with Aflion is a pleasure. Yes, I said it, Aflion! Here at KNC Keys, we prefer the Cherry-like fullness that switches have. The goal was to recreate the Cherry Black experience but stock. As these are hand-lubed from the factory as Aflion does... No need to break in, hand-lube, or spring swap, as these have that all covered. Please see the disclaimer above. To best enjoy these switches, use the included Q-Tips and clean the stem hole.
