Why I’ve Been Quiet Lately: Running, Fitness & the Future of KNC Keys

Hey everyone,

You might’ve noticed it’s been a bit quieter on the KNC Keys front—and I owe you some transparency. On top of juggling active duty, family time, and navigating the financial struggles of keeping this project going, I’ve recently picked up a new passion: running.

Why I Embraced Running (and Why It Matters)

Sitting at a desk all day—whether designing keyboards, packaging orders, or writing blog posts—takes its toll. According to the Mayo Clinic, prolonged sitting is linked to obesity, high blood pressure, and even a higher risk of heart disease and cancer. In fact, sitting more than eight hours a day without activity can carry a mortality risk comparable to obesity and smoking (Mayo Clinic).

Enter running: it’s been a game-changer. The American Heart Association highlights how aerobic activities like running help lower blood pressure, improve “bad” cholesterol levels, enhance blood sugar control, and reduce stress—benefitting both heart and mind (www.heart.org). Personally, I’ve felt that difference—my focus is sharper and my mental clarity has surged.

But the benefits don't stop there. Research from Harvard Health shows that regular aerobic exercise—like running—can boost the size of the hippocampus, the brain region tied to memory and learning (Harvard Health). Even more compelling, studies into the neurobiological effects of consistent aerobic exercise point to improved neuroplasticity, increased gray matter in key areas like the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, and better cognitive control and memory function (Wikipedia).

My Training Plan & Why KNC Keys Has Slowed Down

Running has evolved from a casual hobby to a six‑day‑a‑week commitment. I’m training for:

  • Half marathon on September 13, 2025

  • Full marathon on October 4, 2025

That means early mornings, recovery days, and pushing my limits. As a result, updates, shipping, and engagement at KNC Keys have understandably taken a back seat. I want to be transparent: this training demands a lot—but it’s shaping me in ways that will benefit this community in the long run.

A Small Shop Update & Discount

Despite the temporary slowdown, KNC Keys is still here—and I want to show my appreciation for your support. For a limited time, enjoy 20% off all store items (excluding service orders). Just use code RUNNER20 at checkout.

What’s Next?

Running has awakened something bigger for me—one day, I might channel this passion into a running-focused venture. For now, though, I’m sticking with keyboards and this amazing community. Your support means everything.

Thank you for being patient, supportive, and just awesome—even when I’m running a little slower here.

See you on the trails (and at the desk),

– Kahlil, Founder of KNC Keys
